Our Mission
Minnesota Tamil Sangam is a member-based, non-profit organization formed exclusively for charitable, cultural, and educational purposes of promoting Tamil culture to the Tamil community in the state of Minnesota, within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
To this end, the corporation brings Tamilians in Minnesota together with a primary objective of strengthening and expanding the reach of Tamil culture to second-generation Tamil children. Allied purposes include educating in Tamil language and culture by conducting workshops and stage programs involving experts in Tamil literature and art. All funds, whether income or principal, and whether acquired by gift, contribution, or otherwise, are devoted to these purposes.
What we do
Culture · பண்பாடு
We curate, perform, and pass forward the living traditions of Tamil arts — Iyal (literature), Isai (music), and Naatakam (drama) — through Sangamam, Muthamizh Vizha, and a year-round calendar of festivals, folk-art workshops, and competitions.
Education · கல்வி
The MNTS Tamil School teaches Tamil language and culture to the next generation, and MNTS runs workshops and stage programs with experts in Tamil literature and art — including visiting master artists from Tamil Nadu.
Community · சமூகம்
From Festival of Nations to blood drives and the banana-leaf feast, MNTS connects Minnesota Tamil families to each other and to the broader life of the state.
Every MNTS event opens with the invocation Tamil Thai Vazhthu — Neeraarum Kadalududhdha, by Manonmaniam P. Sundaram Pillai.
